For this week’s sports article, we interviewed some of the players from the 7th grade Girls Basketball team about their sport and their team. The first person we interviewed was Kenzie Gerdes. We first asked her about the season and how far the team is currently in the season. She responded with, “We are ¾ of the way through, 16-1” after a bit of thinking. The second thing we asked her was, “What do you think is your team’s biggest strength?” “Height and teamwork,” she answered quickly.

The next person from the 7th grade Girls Basketball team we interviewed is Katie Ulrich. The first question we asked Katie was how long she wants to play basketball and if she wants to keep playing after middle school. She quickly answered by saying, “I want to play until college, but I don’t want to play in the WNBA because I don’t want to waste my middle-aged life.” The second question we asked her was why she plays basketball and what she enjoys about it. After thinking for a bit, she answered by saying, “I enjoy it, and it is something that my family likes watching me do. Also, there are a lot of people on the Purdue team that I like, and I want to play in college too.”

The last person we interviewed was Carly Zobrist! The first question she was asked was if she could be the best at any position, what would it be. She took a second to think but eventually said, “Probably a point guard because I wouldn’t get nervous, I would get better at handling the ball, and I would know what I’m doing.” The last question we asked was how her coaches and teammates would describe her as a person and a player. She answered quickly by saying, “I think that they would describe me as kind and encouraging to others.” That concludes our article for 7th grade Girls Basketball. There are still more home games, so try to get to a couple!
