As our generation grows, we tend to eat more sweets. Swedish Fish is a well-known candy, with a rating of 4.6/5 in terms of goodness. These little fish originated in Sweden in 1957, created by Malaco. The main reason they were created was to reflect Swedish culture. They gave Swedish Fish a bright color to catch your eye. The flavor of these fish is normally considered fruity, due to their sweet and tangy taste. You might think Swedish Fish are gummies, but they aren’t. They are called “wine gums” or “starch jellies.” The history behind the name is that these candies are chewier and stickier than your typical gummies. One interesting fact about Swedish Fish is that every one of them is stamped with the word “Swedish.” A lot of people think Swedish Fish are healthy and don’t contain harmful ingredients. However, if you look at the ingredients, you’ll see one major drawback: Swedish Fish contain Red 40. Red 40 is unhealthy for your body, so it’s best not to consume too much of it.
Now, we all know what Sour Patch Kids taste like, but here’s how they came into the world. These little candy figures were created by Frank Galatolie in the 1970s. They were originally called “Mars Men,” inspired by the space craze at the time. When the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls came out, the name was changed to “Sour Patch Kids.” The shape of Sour Patch Kids was also altered to resemble the dolls. Every time you eat one of these Sour Patch Kids, you consume about 10 calories. That means if you eat 10 Sour Patch Kids, you’ve consumed almost 100 calories. While Sour Patch Kids might taste like fruit, they are not a healthy food option for your body.
Conclusion:
To gather people’s opinions on these candies, we asked a group of students which candy they think is better. The students we asked were Alex, Abram, Ava, Harper, Brylie, Audrey, Emerie, Kinsey, and Trip. They all said they prefer Sour Patch Kids over Swedish Fish, explaining that Swedish Fish are too sweet. “Sour Patch Kids are just better,” said June confidently. The only people who preferred Swedish Fish were Mr. Heider and Kenzie. They both said Swedish Fish are better because they are sweet but not as sour as Sour Patch Kids.
