Today, we decided to interview Mrs. Hobbs! She is an 8th-grade literature and grammar teacher, and many kids love her. Read below to discover more facts about Mrs. Hobbs!
1. What is something you really enjoy?
I really enjoy scrapbooking. Every month, I print my favorite pictures from that month, cut them up, and paste them with a bunch of stickers and other fun decorations onto a monthly scrapbook page.
2. What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I speak a secret language called Ubbi Dubbi. If you want to hear it, you’ll have to ask me about it!
3. What motivates you?
I’m very intrinsically motivated, which means I want to accomplish things because I truly care about them, not because someone is forcing me. I’m also motivated by lists—if it’s on a checklist, I have to get it done so I can check it off!
4. What is something you’re proud of?
I’m proud of my independent spirit! Doing things like going away to college where I knew no one, living in Costa Rica with a Spanish-speaking family, and creating new Explore courses for students from scratch are all exciting for me.
5. How would your friends describe you?
Ms. Haggerty said, “Mrs. Hobbs is the most demure, stupendous teacher I know; her drive and motivation are magnanimous.”
6. What is something that always makes you laugh?
Playing hide-and-seek with my son, Silas, because he thinks it’s really funny when I hide from him. Once he starts laughing, I can’t help but laugh too!
7. What is one goal you have?
I hope to have such a long, illustrious teaching career that someday one of my students gets famous and gives me a shout-out in their award acceptance speech. 😉
8. What is your favorite way to spend free time?
I absolutely LOVE taking my son to the library, and I also enjoy watching reality TV.
9. What is something you’ve learned recently?
A lesson I’ve learned recently is that the more often you do something that seems difficult, the less difficult it becomes. When my son was a baby, even grocery shopping seemed really hard because he would cry and fuss. But I kept taking him with me week after week, and now it’s easy!
10. What is one piece of advice you would give others?
Find your identity in Christ, not in the things of this world.
