After not knowing what to have our final article be, we figured Jack, the only person in our our group who hasn’t been interviewed this year, would be a perfect hornet spotlight candidate. He’s an 8th grader here and is a member of scholastic bowl. So, lets go off with a banger! So here’s how it went!
First, we asked what his dream vacation is.
“I would love to go to Switzerland or Germany because I’m sure the national beauty is phenomenal.”
Next, we asked him what the dumbest thing he’s ever done.
“I have several things that could make it here, but one thing stands out from the rest. One day I was sledding at Eureka lake with my friends and we thought it would be “smart” to tie all 4 sleds together and go down the hill. Let’s just say by the time we reached the bottom, one of my friends was getting strangled by the rope holding the sleds together, my dad almost got run over by our chaos, and I almost crashed into a sign. That was only one of many dumb things we did that day, by the way.”
Then, we asked him what his favorite thing to do outside of school is.
“I love fishing. It’s a game of patience, and a challenge. Who doesn’t love to brag about a catch? I also do some snowmobiling, sword/lightsaber dueling, and a little gaming.”
After that, we asked what his favorite food is.
“My favorite food is pizza. You can get so many different variations of it, it never gets old. It’s a classic for a reason.”
Then, we asked what his favorite memory is.
“My favorite memory is likely when I caught a flathead catfish over the summer. It was huge (not even exaggerating) and there’s a funny story with it. I was the only person fishing for bass and not catfish (purely by choice) and I was the one to catch the first catfish, also the largest recorded catch at my house.”
Next, we asked him what he would change in the school if given the chance.
“If I were able to do that, I would change quite a few things, but in order to not make this the longest article in EMS history (I’m only joking) I’ll be listing the top 3. First of all, I think if you are finished with everything, you should be allowed to play school appropriate games. For example, you could play gimkit, but if you find unblocked COD, that should be a no. Just because some parents don’t want their kids exposed to that stuff. I also think adding a bass fishing team to middle school would be epic. We have one at the high school, but they should add a middle school team. It would be such a good way to get students involved. Now, I won’t name any names, but I have a friend or two involved in nothing that would join in a heartbeat. I think the eureka/seacore sportsman club could work with the team and have people from the community as coaches. I know one of the leaders of the club from church. Plus, as I said earlier, who doesn’t like bragging about a catch? Lastly, the school could put more money into education than sports. I for one, know we have phenomenal teachers who don’t get a high enough paycheck for what they do. Sports aren’t that important.”
Then, we asked what his favorite movie is.
“My favorite movie is by far Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Allow me to explain. First of all, Star Wars is my favorite movie franchise. The action in the movie is the best in the series. Also, the plot is executed perfectly. Reading the novel made it even better. Lastly, the characters are perfect. Obi-Wan comes to mind. He’s my favorite Star Wars character and this is the best version of him.”
We then asked what his favorite animal is.
“Good question. I have to say the bald eagle. It’s the symbol of America, and I am very proud to live in the USA.”
Then we asked what he would turn into if he could turn into anything.
“Well, I would either also turn into a bald eagle or stay human. With the eagle, again, you symbolize America. With humanity, I often enjoy the challenge.
My favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip but anything caramel is a close second. I refuse to elaborate any further.”
To end things off, we asked what his favorite clothing brand is.
“My favorite clothing brand is Nike, mostly because it’s really comfortable, and also it just looks high quality and cool.”
Well, that ends Jack’s spotlight and our final nest article. It’s been fun, but, like many other things, all good things must come to an end. Have a good day, hornets & readers.
