Nowadays, I have witnessed some sad things, and today I’m going to act like a therapist in a way. I have not lost a relative in many years, so I’m mainly going to focus on losses that are not about losing a life. This is partly because I do not fully understand that experience.
However, I did go through a major loss around December. My house caught fire, and within 10 minutes, almost everything I owned was gone. I’m not saying I’m a professional, but I know a thing or two about dealing with something like this.
My first piece of advice is to stay strong. Your community will most likely support and provide for you, and you can hold on to the belief that your Father above has your back. I was not damaged spiritually, but I read the Bible every day to help myself stay calm and focused.
One thing you always have to remember is this: they are only things. That is what helped me cope. You can replace things, but you can never replace a life. As long as no lives are lost in something like a fire, there is hope to rebuild. Sometimes a loss can make you realize how much we take things for granted.
