This weekly article is about something that isn’t as common anymore but is still around: hot takes. The idea of a “hot take” didn’t begin with a single creator or show but developed gradually through media culture. The term “take” has long been used in journalism and broadcasting to mean an opinion or perspective, but it became “hot” as media environments grew faster and more competitive. The way it came into our generation sounds strange, but you may wonder why kids these days still use the term. Over the past couple of years, its highest peak of popularity was in the 2010s. In simple terms, a hot take is just an unpopular opinion that someone shares.
With all this information, I asked some people what their biggest hot take is. Here were their responses:
WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST HOT TAKE?
Addison Shields – Coffee does not taste good; people are just used to the taste or pretend they like it.
Kinleigh Clements – You can’t wear Crocs without socks.
Liam Hinrichsen – LeBron isn’t top five.
Adley Wesner – You have to have a bagel with cream cheese and nothing else.
