8th Grade Basketball

The 8th graders’ year has been going well in the words of Ezra, “This year is going well, and we hope to achieve our goal of winning state.”

I asked the team these five questions:

How is your season going specifically?
What do you think of your coaches?
What were your goals for this season at a personal level?
What was your goal as a team in the beginning of the season?
And have you accomplished it?

And they replied with:

Ezra Dohner

The season is going well; we have 2 losses going into regionals. The coaches are great. Coach Steinbeck does a really good job encouraging us. Coach Gundy gives really good advice. My personal goal was to get better and have confidence. The goals for the team were getting better, win state, have fun with each other, and be good teammates. We have accomplished most of them except for winning state.

Max Brown

1. The season is going very well, and we are winning a lot. It has been a lot of fun being part of such a great team.

2. I really like the coaches. I like Coach Steinbeck a lot, and he has taught me a lot. He is also really good at building connections with his players.

3. I wanted to elevate my role on this team and work on getting better myself and being a better teammate.

4. We really just wanted to work hard as a team and develop more. We wanted to win a lot as well and go far in the postseason.

5. We have for sure built a connection as a team, and I have elevated my personal performance. But for the postseason, only time will tell.

Kyle Cochran

1. It’s going good.

2. I like our coaches.

3. Get better.

4. Win state.

Eli Sliger

#1. It is going very well for me, specifically because I have gotten some dunks in-game.

#2. Coach Steinbeck is a great coach; he really gets to know his players well and encourages us a lot.

#3. My goals for this season were to dunk in-game, which I have, and get better as a teammate.

#4. At the beginning of the season, our goal was to win state again, and that still is our goal right now.

#5. We hope to accomplish it!

Brodie Wettstein

In my opinion, I think that our season is going very good. And I like our coaches very much. Also score in playoffs, go undefeated, and win state. Not yet.

Colin Risk

1. Our season is going really good.

2. I really like our coaches; they are really nice.

3. I wanted to get better at defense and shooting.

4. To win state again.

5. Not yet.

2. The coaches are nice and helpful.

So all in all, the 8th grade boys basketball team is having a great season and all seem to have the same goal of going back to state and winning again.
