Volleyball originated in 1895 in Massachusetts, USA, when it was called mintonette. It is a sport where you can serve the ball underhand or overhand, and the other team over the net receives the ball and plays it. The goal is not to have the ball touch the floor. Six people are on the court on each side, and all try to pass the ball to the setter.
We interviewed some people on the volleyball team, asking what they are most excited about and what they are hoping for this season. Here is what they said.
Brylie Prina:
I am most excited about playing with my friends. I am hoping to win a regional this season!
Ava Wiegand:
What they are excited for — The thing I’m most excited for this season is the games and the bus ride. I’m hoping this season that we get farther in the postseason and win more games than last year.
Rome Leman:
I’m really excited for the actual games and hanging out with my friends. I’m hoping to go to state!
Harper Johnson:
I think I’m most excited about being able to spend more time with my teammates and grow as an overall player. Also, the concession stand snacks!
Gabbie English:
I’m most excited to bond with friends and other people I usually don’t talk to, and for this season, I’m just hoping to have fun.
Brynn Wilson:
That we get a better record of wins than last year… over 3/4 of the games we lost. I wish that we had more snack options at the concession.
Riley Harris:
I am excited to grow in my skills. I am hoping that we can grow as a team.
Nella Stoller:
I am really excited to play with friends and have new experiences and maybe go to state! That would definitely be my goal.
Beau Faichney:
I am so excited for this season! I am excited for all of our games and playing together with our friends!
Brynley Schieler:
I am really excited for the season to play with new people and grow as better players with my friends. My goal this season is to get better, and a huge goal is to go to state.
Ella Tucker:
For sure getting to know all the new 7th graders and also getting back into a healthy routine! And I am always hoping to get to state.
Kinleigh Clements:
I most excited to grow with my teammates!! My goal for this season is to GOOO TO STATE!! Big goal, but ik we can do it!!
Haddie Dohner:
I am excited to grow as a team! I hope that we go to state and all get better.
Zola Ahlers:
Go to state!!!
Chloe Johnson:
I’m really excited to play with my friends and learn new things about volleyball. My goal this year is making it to state, which is a really big goal for me!
