I interviewed 7th-grade teacher Mrs. Ogg. We asked her some questions, and here is what she said.
Q: What is your favorite animal and why?
A: I don’t have any animal that is a favorite. I’m not really an animal fan.
Q: What is your favorite color?
A: Green and blue. If only one, green—darker greens and navy and sky blue.
Q: What are some of your goals this year and why?
A: I want to live out every day in a way that honors Jesus. I want to see people and love people the way He does. I definitely miss the mark a lot, but I keep trying again each day.
Q: Do you have any animals? If so, what and how many?
A: Nope. But I have grandchildren, and being “Nana” is the absolute best! (To clarify… they are NOT animals, but they are amazing.)
Q: Do you do any sports? If so, what?
A: I have always loved swimming. I swam most of my life and continue to swim when I get the opportunity. Otherwise, I love long walks and hikes with friends. My husband and I enjoy bike rides when the weather is nice.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
A: The power to really see into people so I can see their hurts and understand them better.
Q: What is your favorite holiday and why?
A: Christmas, for two reasons. First, it was the day Jesus was born. His birth is what leads to His death and resurrection. This is what gives me my hope, peace, and strength to walk out each day of life. Second, because all of our children come home (they are scattered in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and around Illinois). When they are home, the grandkids are home also, and I love having us all together to laugh, play games, and enjoy each other.
Q: What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
A: I have two here also. First, we play games for prizes. We start with Left, Right, Center, but then we move into a lot of various games. This can get a little competitive because winners draw a number, and they get that gift. I change it up year by year, but there is always a big grand prize. There are funny prizes, money, gift cards, and practical items. Everyone plays, and we laugh a lot and enjoy the time together.
Second, we take time to read the children’s book My Birthday, Jesus’ Birthday before we start opening gifts. I love this because it helps us get our minds focused on Jesus, the best gift we could ever have been given.
Q: What is your favorite subject and why?
A: Social Studies, of course! There are so many reasons why I love Social Studies! We learn about content that pertains to us every day! We get to learn about events in the past, wonder about them, investigate them, make connections, and do so much more!
Q: What is your favorite food and why?
A: I know it may be somewhat lame, but I still love pizza as long as there are no mushrooms or pineapples on it.
