There is a conspiracy theory going around about how the new pope is helping Chicago be insane at sports. The pope was born in Chicago in 1955 and is a White Sox fan. Recently, the Chicago Cubs made it to the postseason, and their record this year was 92 wins and 70 losses. This is the best record they’ve had since 2018, when they had 95 wins and 68 losses. This is also the farthest the Cubs have made it in the postseason since 2016. That was the year they won the World Series.
That isn’t the only reason why people think the pope has saved Chicago sports. The Bears have been playing well too. Their record as of right now is 7 wins and 3 losses. As of Week Thirteen, they are the number one seed in the NFC. What is even crazier is that if they win next week, they are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. The last time the Bears made it to the playoffs was 2020. Even if the Bears lose the rest of their games, they are already guaranteed a winning record. What’s weird is that his favorite team is doing badly, though. The White Sox have 60 wins and 102 losses.
So because the Pope has connections with Chicago because he was born there, now Chicago sports have been good this year. Except the White Soxs.
