Mrs. Hobbs is an 8th-grade language arts and grammar teacher here at EMS. I asked her what a day looked like for her, and here is what she said:
5:30–6:30 AM – Get ready for the day (shower, hair, skincare, make-up, etc.). I love listening to podcasts or audiobooks during this time. And I’m sure you’re dying for the skincare routine, so here it is: Cetaphil face wash, Cerave moisturizer, Dr. Jart’s Cicapair foundation, Benefit brow tint, and a touch of Thrive Causemetics mascara!
6:30–6:45 AM – Eat breakfast and have time for devotions with my husband (fried egg on sourdough bread with a sprinkle of cheese).
6:45–7:15 AM – Wake up baby Silas, feed him, get him dressed, and ready for the day. Getting him dressed is basically like getting a greased pig dressed, so it takes more time than you would think.
7:15–7:30 AM – Pick up the house, make a plan for dinner, put away clean dishes from the night before.
7:30–8 AM – Drop off Silas at his daycare, then head to school.
8–3:30 PM – Teach, grade, make copies, update Canvas, all the boring teacher things. 🙂
3:30–4 PM – Pick up Silas from daycare and drive home.
4–4:45 PM – Take Silas and our dog, Poppy, for a walk to the park close by our house. Poppy chases her ball at the park, and Silas toddles around happily in the grass.
4:45–5:30 PM – Prepare dinner and do any house chores I didn’t get to in the morning.
5:30–6:30 PM – Dinner time! Tonight we’re having chicken tikka masala with naan. Silas usually eats whatever we eat, just cut up smaller.
6:30–7:30 PM – Family time: We love keeping Silas busy with books and games. His favorite activity right now is watching us roll a ball down a slide, then going to get the ball. Basically the baby version of fetch. You’d think it would be boring, but it’s too cute to be boring!
7:30–8 PM – Silas’s thrilling bedtime routine: read a book, sing a song, put on pajamas, rock in the chair until he’s asleep.
8–9:30 PM – FREEDOM! No students or baby needing me! It’s time for dessert and a show. Right now, my husband and I are alternating between watching The Middle on Peacock and Survivor on Paramount+.
9:30 PM – Skincare and off to bed. Good night!
That is a day in Mrs. Hobbs’ life!
