By the time kids are in middle school, they are begging their parents for a phone. Lots of times, it has to do with their attitude. Are they responsible enough? Are they trustworthy? Many young kids might get into bad habits, like social media. On the other hand, letting kids have a phone at a young age is good for communication.
I asked some kids around the school what age they thought kids should get a phone, and these are their answers:
Brylie Prina: Whenever they are responsible enough.
Lauren Hambleton: They can get a watch in middle school, and then in high school they can get a phone—around the age of 14–16.
Adley Wesner: Age 11 because they are mature enough.
Brynley Schieler: Summer before 7th grade because that’s when most kids start sports.
Ethan Otto: Around 7th grade because of sports.
William Sauder: When they’re 16 so they don’t play Clash Royale for hours.
Brantley Simpkins: Age 13 because it’s the perfect age, and they’re teenagers.
Kal Brown: Whenever they start sports.
Parker Bishop: If they play a sport in middle school, then they can get one. But if they don’t, then they get one in high school.
