After coming off last year’s state championship run, the 8th-grade boys basketball team has high expectations for this season.
After practicing all summer, the boys kicked off their 8th-grade season with games on Tuesday and Thursday, both part of the Tip-Off Tournament. They’re hoping to win the tournament as a strong start to the season. With a talented 15-player roster, the team has set many goals for themselves. Here are a few of them:
What are your goals for this season, coming off a state championship win last year?
Eli Sliger: “To build better team chemistry for high school and to win state again.”
Drew: “Win state, have fun, and get better as a team.”
Ezra: “To help me and my teammates improve — not just in skills, but in basketball IQ as well — and to win state again.”
Kyle: “Win state, boy.”
Tucker: “My goals are to work better as a team and win state.”
Crey: “My goals are to win state and every single game.”
Clayton: “To get better as a team and work together.”
Brodie: “Have fun and do the best we can.”
Ethan: “Win state and get back into shape.”
Max: “Progress as a team, get better individually, and win state.”
Luke: “Make progress as a team and win state.”
Kal: “Win state.”
Colin: “Win state and progress individually and as a team.”
Eli Zehr: “I want to get better at basketball and try to get a little bit more playing time. I also want to be a good teammate and help out others on the team.”
Eli Taylor: “Get a State Champ.”
