It is currently Week 7 of the NFL season, and the Bears are on a four-game winning streak. They just beat the Saints 26–14. They started the season looking okay, but recently they have been on fire. The defense is firing on all cylinders, and the offense is looking good, though it could use some more work. Their record is 4–2, which is pretty solid right now.
The biggest challenge is their division. The NFC North consists of the Packers, the Lions, and the Vikings—all teams with winning records at the moment. The Bears have also gotten a new head coach from the Lions, and all Bears fans are in love with him. Ben Johnson is the new head coach. He has fixed what previous coaches could not and has already made a big impact. Bears fans can’t wait to see how things continue.
The Bears’ quarterback is now in his second year and is still developing as a player in the league. Ben Johnson has also helped the team by working with Caleb, the QB. Caleb had developed some bad habits when he lacked a strong offensive line and often ran out of the pocket to make plays. Ben Johnson has corrected that issue. There is still a lot of work to be done, but so far, Johnson’s guidance has been very effective.
The Bears’ defense has been on fire recently, with standout players like Jalyon Johnson, Montez Sweat, and Tremaine Edmunds. Their wide receiver corps is also impressive, featuring clutch players like Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, and Luther Burden III. Rome Odunze and Caleb Williams have developed an incredible connection recently, while DJ Moore continues to perform as one of the league’s top receivers. Luther Burden has proven himself to be a phenomenal clutch player. Overall, the Bears are in a solid position on both offense and defense.
Now the question is whether the Bears can continue winning and remain a strong team, or if they will collapse and revert to their usual pattern. With this in mind, we asked some teachers for their thoughts:
Mr. Bellini: “Yes, I think they will be a wild-card team. I expect three NFC North teams to make the playoffs, but I don’t think the Bears are in contention for the Super Bowl yet. They are still learning who they are under their new coach, Ben Johnson. I think it will take a few years for them to truly believe they can win the Super Bowl—similar to the Detroit Lions a few years ago. Plus, the NFC North is the toughest division in the NFC, making it even harder for them to reach the Super Bowl.”
Mrs. Bellini: “They are showing promise! The defense has been strong with takeaways and pressure. The offense has had its ups and downs, but that’s natural growing pains under a new head coach. Caleb Williams is still learning, as he’s just a second-year player. He has shown improvement in managing the offense and has taken far fewer sacks than last year. I feel that Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams are a great fit, and Caleb has some really strong weapons, including Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, DeAndrew Swift, Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet, and others.”
Brady Thompson: “Yes—do you even know who Caleb Williams is?”
Caleb Strawn: “I think they will either barely make the playoffs or barely miss them. If they make it, they’ll likely lose in the first round (btw, the Packers are still better).”
Logan Rittenhouse: “Oh yeah, for sure. Rome Odunze, DeAndre Swift, DJ Moore, Jaquan Brisker, and Ben Johnson will take us to the Super Bowl.”
