The EMS Volleyball regular season just came to an end against Dee-Mack on Thursday! They will be starting regionals soon! The 7th-grade team got the 1st seed in their region with a record of 21-3! The 8th-grade seeds aren’t out yet, but they also have a record of 21-3! Both teams had a great season! Come out on Tuesday, February 7th, at El Paso Gridley to see the 7th-grade girls play their first game in regionals! We decided to ask them some questions about their amazing season and post-play!

Here are the questions and answers for 8th grade:

Questions:

  1. What is your team’s record?
  2. What’s been your favorite part about playing this season?
  3. What are you most excited about for post-play?
  4. What is the best memory from the season?

Alivia Schrock:

  • 21-3
  • Beating rivals
  • Winning
  • Beating Morton

Fallon Johnson:

  • 21-3
  • Trying to get to state again
  • Dominating
  • All of the packs of Oreos I’ve eaten

Enlee Wiegand:

  • 21-3
  • Beating Morton and Dee-Mack
  • The food
  • All of Mrs. Hoelscher’s strange quotes

Bryleigh Brace:

  • 21-3
  • Beating rivals
  • Winning
  • Beating Morton

Here are the answers for 7th grade:

Kenzie Gerdes:

  • 21-3
  • Beating our rivals
  • Hopefully winning regionals
  • The bus rides

Lilian Roth:

  • 21-3
  • Learning new skills and hanging out with friends
  • The food, playing under pressure
  • Beating Morton or winning as a team

Noel Gerber:

  • 21-3
  • Getting better being with friends and competition
  • To see how much we have grown and how far we will go, food
  • Taking snacks and playing hide and seek on the bus

Kenzy Thompson:

  • 21-3
  • Being able to hang out with friends and learning new things
  • To see how far our talent will go
  • Being a part of the team

Next, we decided to ask Mrs. Hoelscher about the team’s amazing season and her coaching. Here are her questions and answers:

  1. What has been your favorite part about coaching this year? A: Just having a good time wherever we go!
  2. What’s your favorite thing about post-play? A: I like the unknown and the excitement it brings.
  3. What are the 7th and 8th-grade records? A: The 8th and 7th grades are the same at 21-3.
  4. How many years have you coached, and how many more do you think you will coach? A: I have coached for 10 years at EMS, and I will have 3 more years after this. Then, I will retire.
  5. How much do you think your team has improved this season? A: I think we have improved a lot mentally because we are a lot tougher than when we started out.
  6. What has been your favorite team to play against this year? A: Morton because we wanted to beat them.
  7. What is your favorite memory from this season? A: Just all the times that we sit and talk before the matches; those are my favorite memories.
