For the past week, we have been doing a Badminton Unit. Badminton is a game where you use a racket, smaller than a tennis racket, and a birdie. In P.E., we form groups of three, four, or five. Together, we choose a team name. We asked a few kids what their team names were. Here are their answers!
Tucker Knecht said, “DossyDude992, because there is a guy named Dawson, and that is his gamer tag, so we chose that.”
Jocelee Tharp said, “The Braid, and we chose it because there are three of us.”
Evelyn Tonelli said, “I was absent when they chose it, but it is B-A-N-A-N-A-S.”
We also asked all of the P.E. teachers why they started a badminton unit. Here are their answers!
Mr. Bellini said, “We needed to cover racket sports and couldn’t do Pickleball.”
Mrs. Hoelscher said, “It gets a lot of people involved and is easier for some people to play.”
Mr. Bane said, “It’s a racket sport that challenges you in a new way and is very fun.”
We also asked them why they let everyone choose their groups, but not volleyball. This is what they said!
Mr. Bellini said, “There are 8 in volleyball, while badminton takes up 18 and allows us to separate them more easily.”
Mrs. Hoelscher said, “Because in badminton, the talent is spread out, while in volleyball you can tell who is good.”
Mr. Bane said, “Just because of smaller numbers, choosing 2 or 3 instead of 7 or 8.”
I hope you enjoyed our article about badminton and have a great time playing it. Goodbye!
