Who’s the Favorite: Tow Mater or Lightning McQueen?
The movie Cars, released in 2006, has been a beloved part of many people’s childhoods. In the film, two fantastic characters capture everyone’s attention: Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen. They are best friends, yet their personalities are very different.

Tow Mater is energetic, humorous, and has a sweet accent.

Lightning McQueen is fast, serious, and speaks with a standard American accent.
To find out which character is the favorite among students and staff at EMS, we interviewed seven people. Here’s what they had to say:

Dalayah: “Both are good, but Tow Mater is better because Lightning McQueen gets all the hype when Tow Mater deserves it.”
Parker: “Tow Mater, because he is just better and we all know he would smoke Lightning McQueen in a race.”
Gogan: “Tow Mater is better because he is rusty, brown, cute, and sounds like the guy who says ‘ROOOOOOOTTTT BEEEEERRRR.’”
Colin Risk: “Lightning McQueen, because he is tough and goes fast around the track. Lastly, he is so hot, like lightning.”
Chuck Dunbar: “Tow Mater, because there is a whole movie about him (Cars 2), which is my favorite. He is the funniest, and he has the most famous line, ‘Pistachio.’”
Mrs. Worner: “Tow Mater is a legend — funny, kind, and totally unforgettable. Plus, he’s got that ‘one-of-a-kind’ charm that Lightning McQueen could never match. Honestly, Mater proves that being a good friend and just being yourself can be way cooler than winning every race.”
William Sauder: “I really like his voice, he is funny, and he is actually kind of wise.”
Sarina: “Tow Mater, because he is better to listen to and way funnier than Lightning McQueen.”
Ethan Otto: “Tow Mater, because he is funny and chill. He is better than Lightning McQueen.”
