We interviewed and questioned a few students and staff about the best color for braces, and you might be surprised to learn that some of our favorite teachers had braces as well. Braces have been around since the 1800s, with the person who receives credit being the French dentist Christophe-François Delabarre, who invented a wire cage in 1819 that was placed over the teeth to correct alignment issues. Braces colors were introduced to make them seem more personalized and enjoyable for younger children.
When you have metal braces, you’ll notice that there are colored rubber bands. These bands help keep the wire in place and aid in straightening the teeth. There are many colors to choose from when you have braces.
When you’re recommended to get braces, you go through a process before actually getting them. First, you have an orthodontist consultation to see if you’re approved for braces. If you’re not approved immediately because you need an expander or other treatments, it just means you’ll likely have your braces on for a shorter period, and it will be easier for your teeth to move.
About 33% of the world’s population has gone through orthodontic treatment, which includes both children and adults. In the United States, around 80% of teenagers are currently undergoing orthodontic treatment. Below are some of the responses we got from people who have had braces or currently have braces at EMS:
