This year, the 8th-grade volleyball team made it to state! They ended their season with a record of 20 wins and 5 losses. We interviewed some of the players and asked them these questions: First, we asked how they thought their season went. Then we asked what their favorite memory from the season was. Lastly, we asked what it was like for them and their team to make it to state.
Tenley P:
I think our season went really well. Even though at the start of the season I was a little concerned about how we were going to play, we ended great.
My favorite memory from this season was being able to make it to state.
It was very fun going to state, but it was sad that we weren’t able to make it to the finals.
Kaiya S:
I think our season went well because we met our goal of going to state and progressed a lot throughout the season.
My favorite memory from the season was the Sectional Championship because it made me feel very accomplished, and I was excited to be going to state.
For my team to make it to state was a huge accomplishment because, as I said before, we had set our state goal at the beginning of the season and achieved it. For me, it was fun just being with each other and having fun together.
Bella B:
I think this season went very well, and it was a lot of fun.
My favorite memory was winning regionals; it was just very fun.
State was fun because of the bus ride.
Lilian R:
I think we did great and really grew as a team.
My favorite memory was the regional championship because it was a great team game, and I had so much fun.
It was a great bus ride home! We weren’t even sad anymore.
Kenzie G:
Our season went well, and we worked well as a team.
My favorite memory was when we won regionals.
The environment was amazing.
Brynna M:
I think we got better as a team and as friends by the end of the season.
My favorite memory was probably beating Metamora in the regional championship because we lost to them the first time, and there were so many people watching us. It just felt good to make it to sectionals!
Although it didn’t go as well as we had hoped, we met the goal of making it farther than last year, and we still made it to the top 8 teams in the state!
