We asked some people what their all-time NBA starting five would be, and here’s what they said:
Ethan said:
“Allen Iverson at point guard because of his passing skills, IQ, and shot-creating abilities. Michael Jordan for shooting guard because he’s just him. Prime LeBron at power forward because he was an incredible player. I would put Kobe at small forward because he’s a very good player mentally, with his IQ and scoring abilities—they could win a ton of games. For center, I’d choose Victor Wembanyama because, while he’s young, he has the potential to become one of the greatest centers of all time, with his shooting ability and point guard-like dribbling skills while standing at 7’5″.”
Next, we asked Eli Sliger, who replied:
“At center, I’d put Kareem Abdul-Jabbar because of his hook shot—nobody could guard it—and his rebounding skills. At power forward, I would put Tim Duncan because of his overall skills; he’s better than everyone else. At point guard, I’d choose Steph Curry because he’s the best shooter of all time and would score a lot of points for the team. For shooting guard, I would have Michael Jordan, obviously, because he’s the GOAT. At small forward, I’d put LeBron James because he’s really good and would dominate.”
Then, I decided to let Hunter give his personal roster, and he said:
“First, at point guard, I would probably put Michael Jordan—obviously, because he’s the GOAT. Then, at shooting guard, I’d have Kobe because, in my opinion, he’s my GOAT, but for others, he’s mainly just the second GOAT. For small forward, I’d probably put Prime LeBron—not current LeBron, because Prime LeBron was just different. I don’t like current LeBron because he gets a lot of praise for things I don’t agree with. At power forward, I’d put Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the former all-time scoring leader, just because of his dominance. And then for center, I’d put Shaq, one of the greatest centers in NBA history. He was a beast in the paint. If you’ve ever seen clips from his career, it’s just unreal.”
Also, we asked Ezra Dohner for his roster, and he told us:
“At point guard, I’d pick Steph Curry because he’s the greatest shooter of all time. At shooting guard, obviously MJ because he’s the GOAT and a great defender who makes his teammates better. At small forward, give me Larry Bird, the best passer who can score whenever he wants. At power forward, I want Tim Duncan because of his great post work and his solid defense. And at center, I’d choose Nikola Jokić because he’s an excellent passer and can space the floor.”
