Since we’re just breaking the edge of winter, I wanted to write this article about what’s better: Winter or Summer?
Winter and Summer represent the extremes of weather and temperature. Winter brings Christmas Break, while Summer brings… well, Summer Break.
Winter and Summer are really different here in Central Illinois. It’s either freezing cold or blazing hot. What’s worse: starting the car when it’s below 0 and scraping ice off the windshield, or sitting in what feels like a fire inside your car, especially when you touch the seatbelt and leather seats?
But let me stop yapping and cut to the chase. Winter is great because you have about a month to celebrate two holidays: Christmas and New Year’s. But everyone likes Christmas because of gifts and family. I mean, New Year’s is great too, but it’s filled with a bucket list of New Year’s resolutions like “New Year, Better Me,” which everyone knows you’ll mostly forget by February. Summer, on the other hand, has three months of nothing but pure fun because SCHOOL IS OUT! That means all-nighters and infinite possibilities, like swimming, hanging at the beach, or getting a nice paycheck from a summer job.
Summer and Winter each have their pros and cons. But let’s see what people think is better.
Ms. Worner: “Summer is perfect for outdoor adventures, beach days, barbecues, and longer daylight hours. I love the warmth, sunshine, and being active outside!”
Trip White: “I like summer better because I can play more sports like baseball and disc golf. I can also wear shorts, and I don’t get my shoes all gross and slushy in the winter. Basically, what I’m saying is, I don’t really like winter—I like summer a lot more.”
That’s it… See ya!
