LeBron vs. Jordan: Who’s the Greatest of All Time?
Today, we’re diving into the lifelong debate of who’s better: LeBron James or Michael Jordan.
Both Jordan and LeBron are mesmerizing players with their incredible basketball skills, and it’s easy to say they’re the greatest of their respective eras. But what about the “All-Time” GOAT?
To kick things off, let’s take a look at both players’ stats. Jordan scored a total of 32,292 points in his 15 seasons, averaging 2,158.8 points per season. LeBron, on the other hand, has scored 41,759 points in 22 seasons, averaging around 1,898.1 points per season. The main argument for why some people think LeBron is better is because he has more points, but Jordan played fewer seasons, making it seem unfair—until you look at the averages per season. Jordan averaged 30.1 points per game, while LeBron averages 27. Not only that, but Jordan has 5 MVPs, while LeBron has 4, despite playing more seasons.
There are many “this vs. that” arguments when comparing the two, but let’s see what other people have to say about it.
Mr. Gundy – “Jordan was a better basketball player. Most people of this generation (Teenagers) believe that Lebron is better but they never saw Jordan play during their lifetime. Jordan has an unblemished finals record, did not have as long of a career as some other greats by his choice, and dominated the game consistently for 8 straight years. Jordan took the NBA and increased its popularity exponentially. He took the game of basketball to a new level, without him, basketball would not have progressed as fast as it did. There are many more arguments to be made, but here are a few. Other people want to compare the two players, but then it becomes a putdown contest which does not determine who is better. That is not necessary. Lebron is a very good player. Jordan just happens to be the GOAT.”
Drake Arnold – “I personally think Jordan is better. One reason is that Jordan has 6 rings and 2 three-peats to his name. The fact that Jordan accomplished this while being the best player on his team during his 15-year career, compared to LeBron’s 22-year career (and counting), is pretty wild. LeBron has had 6 more years to catch up to Jordan’s number of rings (not counting this season). Another reason I think Jordan is better is his scoring ability. LeBron has 14 50-point games, while Jordan has 31, which is pretty crazy. Jordan also has an average of around 33 PPG in the playoffs, while LeBron averages around 27 PPG in the playoffs. PPG matters in the big moments, and the fact that Jordan can average 6 more PPG than LeBron in the playoffs shows he can perform when it matters. While LeBron is a great player and a close second for me, I have to give the edge to Jordan.”
Max Brown – “I didn’t even have to think about it – it’s Jordan. The way he was known and his legacy just make him so special. Nobody will ever come close to Jordan. Sure, LeBron is good, but I think Jordan is way better, and nobody will change my mind. Jordan has more rings than LeBron. Sure, LeBron puts up amazing numbers, but with all that talent, if he can put up those numbers, there’s no excuse why he doesn’t have more wins. So, he’s just not that guy. Lastly, Jordan also played against harder teams. I mean, look at the players LeBron faces compared to Jordan – it’s not even close. Jordan had to take on great teams like the Bad Boy Pistons, and LeBron would get destroyed if he played them. Jordan also played against legends like Kobe, Magic, Larry, Shaq, and so many more. That’s why Jordan is way better – not even close.”
Hunter Wurmnest – “I think Jordan is better because he scored almost the same amount of points as LeBron did in 16 years compared to LeBron scoring the same amount in 20 years. I also believe they’re both good defenders but Jordan is better because of the people he had to guard during his era. LeBron is the all time leading scorer but for a part in Jordan’s Career and mainly in Kareem’s career they didn’t have a 3 point line like LeBron.”
That’s it… See ya!
