Day in My Life – 2025
Our life schedules are always changing and evolving over time. My schedule today looks very different from just five years ago. But we adapt and learn from things to make them work.
The day begins at 3:30 a.m. (Yes, that early).
My cat, Jerry, decides that he needs to be fed at this time, so he goes around the house crying out. Normally, I would just yell at him to shut up, but that doesn’t work. My dog, Bud, hates Jerry, and he immediately starts barking. Then Jack, my Great Dane, decides he needs to get up and go outside. So, I’ve learned that to keep the peace in my house and allow everyone to sleep soundly, I just get up and take care of all the animals. By 4 a.m., I’m already awake, and I struggle to go back to sleep.
4:00 a.m. – Start with my daily devotions and spend time in prayer (depends on the day how long).
4:30 a.m. – Start work on the lesson coming up in Science. (Since I moved to 8th grade, there are many things I’m relearning and trying to make new assignments for.)
5:30 a.m. – Spanish lesson for the day.
5:45 a.m. – Start planning for the upcoming baseball season. Once the season starts, this will be my travel time to school to get ready for our 6:30 a.m. practices.
6:15 a.m. – Grade papers that need attention in Canvas.
6:30 a.m. – Wake up the family for the day and get my stuff packed up for school.
7:00 a.m. – Double-check to make sure my kids are up and then head to school.
7:15 – 8:30 a.m. – Typically, I make sure the TV in the hall is functioning. I then start getting things ready for the classes.
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Teach class.
12:12 – 1:38 p.m. – Lunch and prep. (Typically, I don’t eat lunch so I can help other teachers who need tech support or assist Dave with a project he is working on. Once baseball season starts, I will be getting the field ready and prepped for practices and games.)
1:40 – 3:10 p.m. – Robotics and equipment time.
After school, I typically have things that my kids are involved in, or I work on school grades, lessons, labs, etc. I also spend this time learning new songs on the guitar and working on new things for baseball practices. Once the season starts, I will be spending most of my time at practices or games. Typically, most days, I’m ready for bed by 9 p.m., but once the games start in the season, I’m looking at 10 to 11 p.m. Then, I get my 4.5 hours of sleep, and we do it all over again!
