This week, we decided to interview Mr. Troutt for the teacher spotlight. We asked him lots of questions, and here are his answers:
Why did you choose to teach 8th grade Social Studies?
A: Because I love history.
Why do you want to teach?
A: I think I was called to do it.
What is your favorite thing about teaching your grade?
A: Every day is different.
If you could have any other job, what would it be and why?
A: A NASCAR driver, because I love driving fast.
What is your favorite thing about coaching golf?
A: Hopefully teaching them a love for the game.
What is your favorite thing about history?
A: Understanding how it is one giant story.
What is the best experience you’ve had as an eighth-grade teacher?
A: Seeing students who struggle realize that there are people who care.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: Australia, because I want to do so many things, like ride the Indian Pacific Railroad.
What is your favorite food?
A: Do I look like I’m picky?
What is your favorite color and why?
A: Purple, because it’s the color of royalty.
What is your favorite number?
A: 43, because Richard Petty’s racecar number.
If you could wear one color for the rest of your life, what would you wear?
A: Denim.
Does water have a flavor?
A: No, except for the particles suspended in it.
Do you have a preference for your ice?
A: Bubble ice.
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
A: A dolphin.
If you could speak any language, what would you speak?
A: Spanish.
If you were in a mythical rain-forest, what would you do?
A: I would try to avoid the rodents of unusual size.
