With wrestling season starting, I interviewed two seventh graders who are captains on the wrestling team, and here are their responses.
When I asked them how they think the season will go, Brady said, “Good, because lots of wrestlers show up and work hard.” Abram added, “Excellent, because we have some strong competitors on the team and some physical sixth graders.”
I then asked if they thought they would make it to state. Brady confidently replied, “Yes, because I have gotten bigger and stronger. I was also one round away last year.” Abram said, “Hopefully, because I work hard in practice.”
When I inquired about how many pins they expected to achieve, Brady estimated, “At least 20,” while Abram simply stated, “20.”
Lastly, I asked if they thought Coach Cade’s and Coach Scheidle’s coaching styles would differ. They both agreed that they would be very similar, noting that Cade learned from Scheidle.
