One of the things that has taken over baseball in the last ten years and has become a necessity that people in the baseball world think they need is “drip.” Some of the items considered “drip” include sliding mitts, which protect your hands while sliding; elbow guards, which help protect your elbows while batting; leg guards, which protect your ankles and feet while batting; batting gloves, which provide grip on the bat; and your bat, which can feature unique designs or cool aesthetics. Some people admire certain players for their “drip.” Notable players include Fernando Tatis Jr., Ronald Acuña Jr., Jazz Chisholm, Mookie Betts, Juan Soto, and Elly De La Cruz. We asked some students who they think has the most “drip” and why they believe that player stands out. Here’s what they said:
- Dylan Grimm: “Elly De La Cruz because he has the GOAT drip.”
- Hunter Wurmnest: “Elly De La Cruz because he is the drip king.”
- Jordan Schulz: “Elly De La Cruz because he signed with Aria.”
- Jadon Bunting: “Elly De La Cruz because he’s got drip.”
- Rigg Stoller: “Elly De La Cruz because he has great sliding mitts.”
- Brady Leman: “Elly De La Cruz because he’s just drippy.”
- Brantley Simpkins: “Fernando Tatis Jr. because he has the best bat flip and multiple sliding mitts.”
