This week for the Teacher Hornet Spotlight, we asked Mrs. Zehr a few questions. Mrs. Zehr is one of our 6th-grade ELA teachers here at EMS. She had some great insights, so here are her answers:
Q. Why do you like teaching?
A. “I absolutely love helping kids love reading and helping them find joy in reading.”
Q. What is your favorite noodle shape and why?
A. “Penne, because it is easy to slide the fork into.”
Q. What’s your favorite book and why?
A. “Mr. Popper’s Penguins, because I love penguins.”
Q. Do you miss Mr. Wear? Why?
A. “Absolutely, but it is nice that he is still in the building so I can still see him.”
Q. What is your favorite sport to watch?
A. “Volleyball, but it’s not on very often, so also basketball.”
Q. What is your favorite book to read to your class?
A. “City of Ember; I’ve read it for 18 years.”
Q. Dogs or cats, and why?
A. “Neither, because I don’t like pets, but dogs, because my husband is allergic to cats.”
Q. What are your top 3 fruits?
A. “Strawberry, pineapple, and golden kiwi.”
Q. If you were to teach a different subject, which would it be and why?
A. “Social studies, but not 6th grade because I don’t like the ancient part. I would teach American history.”
