I believe students should have the day after Halloween off for several reasons. Firstly, since Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, it starts at around 5:00 and ends at 8:00. For younger kids, staying up later than usual can make them tired the next day, leading to drowsiness in class and reduced focus. Additionally, after Halloween, kids typically want to spend time with friends, have sleepovers, enjoy their candy, and watch scary movies. Having the next day off would allow them to have fun and fully engage in Halloween activities. Furthermore, teachers with children may also need the day off to take care of them, or just for a rest day. Considering that teachers get election day off for a 20-minute vote, it seems fair for students to have a day off after Halloween.
Mr. Hieder: “I think the school improvement should be after Halloween instead of before.”
Mr. Wear: “No, because it ends at 9 o’clock.”
Mr. Gundy: “Yes, because the day after Halloween kids are tired and never get their work done.”
Mrs. Worner: “No, because I believe in pacing oneself with candy, and trick-or-treating ends at 8 pm, and I want to get out of school earlier at the end of the year.”
Mr. Ferguson: “No, because Halloween is a made-up holiday.”
