As most of you know, the track season for EMS has finally started! Judging by the fact that most years at EMS there are over 100 7th and 8th graders that sign up to do track, Eureka has usually been known to have a pretty decent track team. According to Wikipedia, track is actually one of the most popular sports in the world. This makes sense because people have been doing track and field ever since 776 BC. That’s about 2,800 years ago! People should feel honored to be in a sport so old. We asked some 7th and 8th graders who are in track one main track-and-field-related question. The question was, “What have you enjoyed the most about track so far, and why?” Their answers are down below:
Davin Dingledine – “Meets because when you’re not running you can hang out with friends, and when you are, you get to run.”
Favorite Event: “1600, because I made it to state for it.”
Kentin Garrison – “The friends I make at long jump. They’re pretty chill like that.”
Favorite Event: “The 200, because I win in it, it is fun, and it isn’t too long, nor too short.”
Katelyn Brugger – “Running with my friends, and messing around.”
Favorite Event: “4×2 because it is the only event I do, and I like the people who I do it with.”
Madi Meyer – “My friends.”
Favorite Event: “Discus, Because I am good at it.”
