Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, each with nine players. It developed over time, evolving from games like cricket and rounders in the early 18th century. To some people, baseball may seem boring, but to others, it’s exciting. Let us explain how it’s played and go over the rules.
The objective of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team by hitting a ball thrown by the pitcher and advancing around the bases. Teams alternate between batting (offense) and fielding (defense), with the game divided into nine innings.
The MLB (Major League Baseball) is the North American professional baseball organization and the highest level of professional baseball in the world. It consists of 30 teams divided equally between the National League (NL) and the American League (AL).
Currently:
-
The Blue Jays have a 2-1 lead on the Yankees.
-
The Brewers have a 2-0 lead on the Cubs.
-
The Dodgers have a 2-0 lead on the Phillies.
-
The Mariners have a 2-1 lead on the Tigers.
To win the series, a team must win 3 games.
We then asked some students who they think has the best shot at winning the World Series:
-
Jude Gerber: Brewers, because they will “cook” the Cubs (he said sadly), then the Dodgers, and then probably the Blue Jays.
-
Trevor Schrock: I think the Toronto Blue Jays because they are cooking the Yankees right now.
-
Deklyn McCarrey: Yankees, because they are the best.
-
Preston Fullar: Dodgers, because they cracked.
-
Wiley Wernz: Dodgers, because they have Shohei Ohtani.
-
Luke Casey: The Milwaukee Brewers, because they have the pitching, bats, and defense to win. P.S. I’m a Cubs fan.
-
Rigg Stoller: The Brewers have the best chance because they can put together hits and had the best record during the regular season.
-
Brantley Simpkins: Either the Blue Jays or the Brewers, because they are both playing really well right now.
-
Eli Sliger: Brewers, because they blew out the Cubs twice.
-
Hunter Wurmnest: I believe the Blue Jays have the best chance to win because they have Vladimir “Vladdy Daddy” Guerrero Jr., who is a stud All-Star, and Alejandro Kirk, one of the best catchers in MLB. The team is also led by George Springer as a leadoff DH, giving them a deadly combo of power and speed like Elly De La Cruz. Their pitching is led by Eric Lauer, Kevin Gausman, and Chris Bassitt. They’re on track to beat the Yankees and head to the ALCS.
-
Ezra Dohner: Probably the Dodgers, because they have really good hitting, the best pitching core, and solid defense.
-
Brady Thompson: Dodgers, because they have the best players.
-
Kyle Cochran: Chicago Bulls, because they are good.
