What is Journalism?
Journalism is one of the explore class options for 7th and 8th grade. It’s where you send people emails, wait for their answers, and type their responses into a document that you then publish on EMS Nest. It’s technically an online newspaper that we write!
At the start of every class, you get to watch CNN 10, which is a student news station. The best part about journalism is that you get to talk to your friends and have the best teacher ever—Ms. Worner (no offense to the other teachers!)—teaching the class.
There are a lot of people in journalism, so I asked some of them what their favorite part of journalism is. Here’s what they said:
Carter Farney:
“The best thing about journalism is CNN 10 because you get to play games and don’t get a grade for it.”
Trevor Schrock:
“I like just making articles with my friends and having it out for the public to see.”
Wiley Wernz:
“My favorite part of journalism is making articles with my friends because it’s fun.”
Rubio Francisco:
“The best thing about journalism is CNN 10 because you get to play games and don’t get a grade for it—and having the best journalism teacher ever!”
Jaxon James:
“Being with Preston and Dek.”
Deklyn McCarrey:
“My favorite part of journalism is watching Ms. Worner get annoyed by me and Preston.”
Journey Garcia:
“My favorite part is being with friends and having a fun teacher.”
Preston Fuller:
“Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… probably chilling with my friends and writing articles.”
Austin Logan:
“My favorite part of journalism is making articles about people with friends—and Ms. Worner getting annoyed by us.”
Everly Wettstein:
“My favorite part of journalism is writing and being with friends.”
Mylee Kent:
“My favorite part of journalism is sending out emails and hearing the fun responses, because they always surprise me.”
