Homecoming is a yearly, week-long celebration for American high schools to welcome back former students. During Homecoming week, there are usually fun events like a football game, a parade, a Homecoming dance, and fun dress-up days for the students!
If you were to ask me, I would say that my favorite part of Homecoming is the football game because of the environment. But enough about me—here is what students all around Eureka Middle School had to say about their favorite part of Homecoming week!
The first person we asked was Mrs. Baner, a 5th-grade ELA teacher. She said:
“As a teacher, my favorite part is the dress-up days. As a parent, I like taking Felicity to the Homecoming parade!”
Next, we asked Mrs. Bishop, a 5th-grade math teacher. She said:
“I love the hype of the Homecoming game!”
Adley Wesner, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite part about Homecoming week is the dressing up, because that is like a need for Homecoming!”
Rubio Fransisco responded:
“My favorite thing about Homecoming week is the football game. Plus, I can hang out with my friends!”
Trevor Shrock, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite thing about Homecoming week is the parade and the football game.”
Mylee Kent, an 8th grader, said:
“My favorite part about Homecoming week is the dress-up days because I like laughing at everyone’s outfits.”
(That’s not very nice, Mylee!)
Mr. Bellini, the PE/Health teacher, said:
“Driving our Jeep Wrangler in the parade with the freshman Homecoming court students in the back. Look for the orange Jeep!”
Easton Stalter, a 7th grader, said:
“Going to the football game on Friday and hanging out with my friends.”
Mrs. Fitzgerald, a 6th-grade ELA teacher, said:
“The parade is really fun! I like to see everyone on the floats and walking in the parade.”
Brady Thompson said:
“Probably the football game on Friday, and seeing Corben in a bikini!”
Mrs. Hoelscher, also a PE/Health teacher, said:
“My favorite part is the dress-up days. It’s fun to see all the creative things people come up with!”
Brady Leman, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite part about Homecoming week is the football game because it is lit.”
Zola Ahlers, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite thing about Homecoming week is the football game, because it is fun.”
Mrs. Haggerty, an 8th-grade ELA teacher, responded:
“My favorite part is dressing up! I think it is such a fun way to get everyone involved throughout the week!”
Brantley Simpkins, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite part about Homecoming week is the parade and the Friday night football game.”
Elsie Cearlock, a 7th grader, said:
“Honestly, I have no clue. I guess I kinda just like the busyness, and this week I’m excited for our conference meet!”
Cora Holt, a 7th grader, said:
“Probably the dress-up days or the football game.”
Norah Martin, a 7th grader, said:
“It is probably dressing up or the parade!”
Mrs. Worner, a 7th-grade ELA teacher, said:
“My favorite is the dress-up days—I love seeing kids and staff get into the spirit!”
Mr. Gundy, an 8th-grade math teacher, said:
“Homecoming week brings a fun energy that no other week of school comes close to matching!”
Mrs. Bellini responded:
“Being part of the Homecoming parade!”
Hadassah Dohner, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite thing is the parade because every year I get to be in it with the volleyball team.”
Juliana Tierrablanca, an 8th grader, said:
“I think the best part is dressing up and matching with our friends. And knowing that this is our last year makes it just so much funnier and more special.”
Austin Logan, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite part is the Homecoming parade.”
Luke Casey, a 7th grader, said:
“My favorite part of Homecoming week is Spirit Wear Day.”
The second-to-last person we asked was Ezra Dohner, an 8th grader, who said:
“My favorite thing about Homecoming is the football game because I like hanging with my friends.”
Finally, the last person we asked was Mr. Troutt, an 8th-grade social studies teacher. He said:
“I know this sounds terrible, but my favorite part of Homecoming week is when it’s over. I believe that most students miss the idea of Homecoming spirit. Some students’ idea of participation in the ‘spirit days’ is only a reason to wear a hat, sunglasses, etc. They also ‘color’ on their arms and faces, with no rhyme or reason to be part of the ‘color’ of the day. In addition, I see many students use these days to act like they don’t have a brain in their head. So, I’m not a fan of the Homecoming week as it is now.”
I hope you have a great Homecoming!
