Do you like cats or dogs better? Whether cats or dogs are better is a highly debated topic. I thought it would be interesting to see what some students and teachers think about cats and dogs—but first, let’s look into some information.
Cats were first domesticated around 10,000 years ago in the Fertile Crescent. Domestic cats came from the North African/Southwest Asian wildcat. Today, cats are said to be the second most popular pet in the world.
Dogs were first domesticated around 15,000 years ago in Asia and Europe. They came from a gray wolf species that is now extinct. Dogs are said to be the number one pet in the world.

Now let’s see which teachers and students prefer cats, and which prefer dogs:
Rigg Stoller:
“Dogs because they are more friendly and I don’t like cats.”
Mr. Gundy:
“Dogs.”
Mrs. Kuntz:
“Definitely cats for me.”
Brynlee Blunier:
“Cats, because they are more chill.”
Liana Klein:
“I have cats and dogs at my house and I love them all equally (unless they get in major trouble). But personally, if I had to choose, I would say dogs because I feel like dogs can (sometimes) be more loyal than cats and they can also be more trainable.”
Mack Cearlock:
“Dogs.”
Mrs. Rocke:
“Absolutely, DOGS!!”
Harper Johnson:
“Dogs, because I’m allergic to cats.”
Sadie Hoffman:
“Dogs, because they can learn more tricks and they love you so much more. Cats are easier to take care of though.”
Everly Wettstein:
“I would say cats, although both cats and dogs are super cute.”
Jessie Hise:
“I do not like one more than the other. You see, I have three outside cats and one inside dog. I love them equally. Sometimes they are annoying and sometimes they are not. Well, I might like some more than others from time to time, but they are all special in their own ways. The cats’ names are Pickles, Fluff, and Prof. Kitty, and the dog’s name is Hallie.”
That concludes my article about cats or dogs. Thank you for reading!
