Book Review- Divergent

Book Review- Divergent

Lydia Martin

Suppose you’re looking for a book to read. In that case, I highly recommend that you read Divergent by Veronica Roth (I also recommend that you read the books following, Insurgent, Allegiant, and Four, but I’ll only be reviewing the first book in this article).

Before we get into the actual review, here’s a bit of information. Divergent is categorized as a dystopian book and is 487 pages long. If you’re in the eighth grade, Divergent is worth 16 AR points, which was worth just about half of my points, and that was really helpful!

Overall, I would probably give this book a 5/5. It really pulled you in from the beginning by almost right away jumping into the tests which will decide Tris’s fate. The whole book is really interesting and it makes you want to keep reading. The idea of the story is really creative as well. I haven’t read anything like it before. The reason I think that I liked this book so much was that I LOVE dystopian books, and it was really action-packed. Here’s a short summary:

Tris (Beatrice) Prior is a sixteen-year-old living in post-war Chicago. The city is split into five factions, Amity (the peacemakers), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Candor (the honest), and Erudite (the scientists). But Tris belongs to none of these factions. She is classified as a Divergent. And that is a very dangerous thing to classify as. Tris must try to hide her Divergence if she wants to survive.

I totally recommend that you read Divergent, especially if you enjoy dystopian books! And if you like movies, Divergent was also made into a movie!
