We all have that one kid in class that always says the dumbest things, and it’s so dumb everyone laughs. That kid is what we call the class clown. Class clowns have been around since the teachers at EMS were in school!

I went around asking people from different grades asking them who the class clown of their grade was. Here are the results…

Jerek Klaus was voted class clown of 5th grade. The first question I asked him was what do you think a class clown is. He told me he thinks a class clown is “someone who tries to make everything funny and does not get in trouble.” Then I asked him would you consider yourself a class clown why or why not. He looked down at the ground and then quietly said yes because he tries to make everyone laugh. Lastly, I asked him what is the funniest/dumbest thing you have ever done during class. He hesitated for a long time then he finally replied with this one time he tried to sit down and his friend pulled back the chair and everyone just laughed

The 6th grader who was voted class clown was Hudsyn Leman. I asked him the same questions and these are his answers. First, what is your definition of a class clown? Hudsyn said um…um… “ A funny person who tells jokes.” After that, I asked him would you consider yourself a class clown why or why not? Hudsyn paused for a second and then quickly responded with yes because he thinks he’s funny and people laugh when he tells jokes. The last question I asked Hudsyn was what is the funniest/dumbest thing you have ever done during class? Hudsyn looked down then to the side and then told me this one time he was just reading a book then he fell asleep in class and everyone surrounded him till he woke up.

Who was the 7th grader voted class clown?… Peyton Henderson I know right big shock! I also asked him the exact same questions. What do you think a class clown is? Peyton looked down and then replied, “someone who makes other people laugh during class when something serious is happening.” Second I asked him, would you consider yourself a class clown why or why not. He said yes because he makes other people laugh a lot then he did a little laugh and then smirked. Finally, I asked him what is the funniest/dumbest thing you have ever done during class. Peyton looked at me with the straightest face then told me one time he randomly just fell out of his chair and then everyone laughed.

Grady Wesner was voted the class clown for 8th grade. I asked him the same questions. So first, what do you think a class clown is? Grady goes um… um, then he said in a goofy voice “being funny and doing stupid stuff.” After that I asked him would you consider yourself a class clown why or why not. Grady did this little weird laugh then replied with yes, because he’s very hilarious and does dumb things. The last question I asked Grady was what is the funniest/dumbest thing you have ever done during class? He scratched his head looked down then said I don’t know, told a joke, and made everyone laugh.

Next, I went around asking teachers if they were class clowns or if they remember any class clowns, and here are the answers…

First I interviewed the one and only Mr. Bayer. The first question I asked Mr. Bayer was were you a class clown. Mr. Bayer looked down and then quickly responded with no. After that, I asked him do you remember who the class clown of your grade was. He quickly responded with yes Curtis, Michael, and Marcus. The last question I asked him was did you like having class clowns in your grade and why. Mr. Bayer said as a student yes because they were funny and as a teacher he as long as they know when to shut up.

I interviewed Mrs. Ogg and asked her the same questions. Were you a class clown? She giggled and then said no, did you actually think I would be a class clown then she giggled some more. Then I asked do you remember who the class clown of your grade was. Mrs. Ogg paused for quite a long time then replied yes Philip. Finally, did you like having class clowns in your grade and why. She looked to the side for a second then shrugged her shoulders then said as a student yes because they made life fun as long as they did not cross the line. And as a teacher yes as long as they know when to be quiet.

Also, I interviewed Mrs. Hobbs and I asked her the exact same questions. So first I asked Mrs. Hobbs were you a class clown. Mrs. Hobbs smiled and told me no. Second, do you remember who the class clown of your grade was? Mrs. Hobbs crossed her arms then tilted her head up and then replied with yes this kid named Ryan. Lastly, I asked Mrs. Hobbs did you like having class clowns in your grade and why? Mrs. Hobbs said that as yes as long as they knew when enough is enough. And as a teacher yes as long as they don’t take it too far.

Of course, I had to interview the one and only Mr. Eastman! Again I asked him the same questions that I asked everyone else.  Mr. Easton told me that he was NOT a class clown I know I thought he would be a class clown too. Then I asked him do you remember who the class clown of your grade was? He said hmm let me think then he looked to the side then to the ground then back to the side then finally said yes, Andy. Mr. Eastman stated that he liked having class clowns when he was a student because they kept everyone loose.

Last but certainly not least I interviewed thee Mr. Schiadle. When I asked Mr. Schaidle if he was a class clown he laughed and then said yes! After that, I asked Mr. Schiadle if he liked being a class clown and he just smiled a tiny bit and said yes. Then I asked him if he liked class clowns as a teacher and he looked at his computer and then replied yes within reason.

From all of the interviewing teachers and current students, you can tell that class clowns have been around for a long time and they aren’t going anywhere. Class clowns are an essential part of the classroom. I know some people think class clowns are just dumb people who say stupid things, but they are actually a lot more than that
