Future job Options, Amazon CEO or Garbage Man

April 11, 2023
10 years from now are you going to own your own company or collect garbage from your neighbors? I asked 7th and 8th graders about what they were planning to do in 4-6 years. When I asked Garret Green what he was planning on doing, he thought about it for a moment and said he wanted to be an entrepreneur. I asked him to elaborate and he said he wanted to make Computers. As soon as I asked if he wanted to go to college he replied NO! When I asked what he was planning on doing in high school he instantly replied Mcdonalds, not any other fast food, Mcdonalds. When I asked about a backup plan he thought for a while until he said he’d enlist.
I asked everyone else the same questions and these were their responses. Cooper said he wanted to be a game dev and Max said he’d like to help Cooper with that. I asked Cooper what his backup was and he said to buy “monkeys.”???? Cooper wants to skip college and get an internship at Roblox of all places. Why Roblox? He didn’t give a reason. Every other question I asked him had a similar answer involving Roblox.
I personally am going to Northrop Gruman as an aeronautical engineer. I do plan on attending college and will work as a lifeguard and do petsitting jobs during high school. I have a job over spring break taking care of a friend’s retriever. I plan on double majoring as an aeronautical engineer and materials engineer in college. Fun fact aviation companies hire more mechanical and material engineers than aeronautical engineers.
I asked Samuel Miller those questions and he said he had no idea what he wants to do when he grows up. He does plan on going to college but doesn’t know what he’s going to do there. During high school, he said he was planning on working at Hardee’s.
Max cool said he wanted to be a game dev like Cooper and Garret. He was planning on mowing lawns over the summer. He wants to be a mechanic during high school and has helped his dad with their car before. He has no backup plan if he can’t be a game dev
Most kids don’t think that their jobs matter yet but it comes upon them quickly. If you plan on getting a car when you turn 16 I would think you’d need a job in high school. After high school you’re on your own, your parents won’t pay for your stuff anymore, and you’ll need a job. If you didn’t want to go to college then you’ll need to know what you’re going to do sooner. You only have 1-4 years till you’ll need a job. If I were you I’d start thinking about career options. It will play a major part in your life
